The Social Media and Communications Intern will be responsible for enhancing our brand's social media presence, creating engaging content, and implementing a media relations plan to boost local visibility. This role involves managing social media platforms, capturing multimedia content, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The intern's efforts will help broaden our reach and strengthen our brand identity. The position will require working 15-20 hours per week from July 2026 through January 2027.
The candidate for this position must always uphold confidentiality standards and be mindful of their audience when communicating. Ideally, the intern will have strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines. The ideal candidate will also be creative, enthusiastic about learning, and have an outgoing, friendly demeanor. The ability to work independently as well as with staff, volunteers, students, and the community is essential. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workspace is required. A musical background and fluency in Spanish are highly desired but not mandatory.
The Harmony Project harnesses the power of music to help underserved students access higher education by removing systemic barriers through academic and social support. We work with children from Kindergarten through 12th grade in a free, year-round, structured music program. Along with core music lessons, we provide holistic social services like mentorships, counseling, and college preparation workshops. Our approach is based on over 20 years of data collection, scientific research, and proven learning standards, emphasizing youth development, community-building, leadership, 21st Century skills, and social advocacy.
