Background

Jail Guitar Doors is non-profit, social justice arts organization based in Los Angeles, CA. JGD provides reentry services, job training and employment pathways, wrap-around services, rehabilitative songwriting workshops, and mentorship to help justice-involved individuals develop essential life skills that will support them while incarcerated and when they return to their community. In 2019, our mission expanded to provide on-going music education to at-risk youths who were graduates of our “Songs & Beats” Program from the Los Angeles Department of Probation juvenile hall. In January of 2021, we deepened our commitment to these underserved youth by breaking ground on the C.A.P.O.
