J.U.i.C.E. provides a safe, positive space where hip-hop arts can flourish as a tool to combat youth violence, build technical skill, facilitate peer support, build knowledge, access professional arts opportunities, and build community. Through our programming, we support the practice and production of all elements of hip-hop culture.
The Intern will learn the about the inner workings of a small community based nonprofit and work alongside J.U.i.C.E. leadership and program facilitators to assist with program tasks. The intern will also be responsible for spearheading at least one new pilot program to be offered to participants.
An ideal candidate for the internship will be enthusiastic, interested in learning about the artistic forms of the hip-hop culture, and have some basic experience with project development. In addition, the intern should be creative, attentive to detail, have excellent research and writing skills, be proficient with basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Email, Web-research), and have good communication and social skills. Finally, it is important that the intern act in a professional manner, particularly in terms of punctuality and work follow-through. Preferred but not required are graphic design skills, marketing and/or publicity experience, and event production experience.
