Description

The Field Initiatives Intern will work closely with LAPP’s Director of Field Initiatives + Creative Producing to support the administration of the California Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowships in Los Angeles County (2026–27 cycle). Responsibilities include assisting with partner council convenings, panel coordination, artist services, and designing marketing and messaging materials to ensure clear, accessible communications. The internship provides hands-on experience in arts grantmaking, equity-centered program delivery, and visual communications, and is ideal for students interested in the intersection of arts, public service, and cultural equity. The intern will work approximately 24 hours per week from late June through early November 2026. 

Qualifications

Applicants should have strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail, reliability, and a commitment to equity and inclusion are essential.  PREFERRED SKILLS Experience with WordPress and basic graphic design is highly valued, particularly the ability to create, resize, and reformat images and video for social media and digital platforms. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools is an asset. Comfort with social media platforms, digital content management, and collaborative tools such as Google Workspace or Zoom will support success in this role.  OVERALL QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate is creative, tech-savvy, and motivated to learn about arts administration, visual communications, and grantmaking processes while contributing meaningfully to the support of independent artists in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Performance Practice is devoted to the production and presentation of contemporary performance by artists whose work advances multidisciplinary artistic practices. Our mission is to support a diverse constellation of artists and audiences through the active creation and presentation of groundbreaking experiences that use innovative approaches to collaboration, technology and social engagement. Key pillars of programming include the Live Arts Exchange [LAX] Festival, Programs for Artists, Creative Producing, and Field Initiatives that sustain independent artists. In 2026–27, LAPP will administer $800,000 in individual fellowships to artists of all career levels across Los Angeles County.
