The Costume and Prop Construction Intern will work under the Artistic Director as well as our Costume Manager. The position of will be primarily responsible for taking inventory of all of Floricanto's costume and prop equipment, learn how to create patterns for both costumes and props, safely use a sewing machine as well as hand tools used to cut wood for props, specifically for professional dance productions. This position will work approximately 40 hours a week from June to August.

Qualifications

Intern will learn costume basics, how to select cloth appropriate for stage, how to take a person's measurements, how to create costumes and props of all sizes for specific activities. Intern should have the ability to use hand tools and not have issues with loud noises.

Background

Founded in 1975, Floricanto Dance Theatre is the oldest existing professional Mexican folk dance troupe in Los Angeles. We continue to preserve the Mexican culture and validate it as a cultural expression of the Chicano people through dance and music.
