The Social Media Intern(s) will focus on Audience Engagement for Grand Performances’ 2026 summer programming season at California Plaza in Downtown Los Angeles. In this position, the intern will:
- conduct research on and outreach to local social media influencers to promote GP’s 40th Anniversary Summer Season program;
- utilize a social media platform, specifically Facebook Groups, to increase online engagement with GP’s new and existing audiences;
- interview audience members, artists, partners, and vendors at the performances;
- collaborate with the video content intern to develop a mini vlog series for GP’s social media platforms, including filming and editing videos for the series;
- identify TikTok trends in order to create relevant and timely content;
- measure and report the results of the audience engagement initiatives;
- share ideas, recommendations, and best practices to increase audience engagement; and
- participate in brainstorming sessions with the Marketing Team.
Duties and responsibilities for the Interns beyond the primary project include:
- assist with website and Eventbrite content updates from the Development, Programming, and Marketing departments;
- support Development efforts with ideas for special promotions and communication to the general public about membership benefits;
- gather and collect data for marketing and development reporting;
- provide welcoming customer service to all guests at Grand Performances’ offices and events;
- general office duties such as filing, organization, and distribution of marketing materials;
- attendance at weekly Grand Performances’ full staff meetings; and
- collaborate with other GP departments.
Rising public high school senior in Los Angeles County. Available to work evenings and weekends at performances. Creative, proactive, highly organized, computer literate, outgoing, and adaptable. Possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Social Media experience: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and CapCut programs is a plus. Experience with Microsoft 365, Google Drive, and Dropbox is a plus. Detail-oriented and able to complete tasks in a timely manner. Professional demeanor when interacting with staff, technicians, volunteers, patrons, and artists. Preferred, but not required, knowledge or interest in learning different software that supports content creation and design.

Grand Performances (GP) is the longest-running free performing arts presenter in Los Angeles with a mission to inspire community, celebrate diversity, and unite Los Angeles through free access to global performing arts. The 40th Anniversary Season (June – September 2026) will consist of 18 + live events at the renovated California Plaza in downtown Los Angeles. Performances are filmed for onsite LED projections and live-streamed. They are later rebroadcast on GP YouTube and FB live channels, expanding audiences for our world-class performing artists.
