Description

The Education Internship is designed to provide essential training for high school students interested in pursuing a career in arts education. The interns will have the opportunity to work closely with the Education Director and the Latino Theater Company on its Summer Youth Conservatory and the preparation for other education programs in the fall, including Play AT Work and Student Matinees.

Specific Project 1: They will begin the Internship by helping coordinate instructors' curriculum, scheduling, and enrollment in June, assisting in preparations.

Specific Project 2: They will assist in day-to-day operations for the Summer Youth Conservatory during its five-week course (June 22-July 25). They will also help in the mounting of the program’s culminating showcase performance, presented on July 25 for the students’ families.

Specific Project 3: They will help the organization’s education department with LTC's two other branches of its education program: Play At Work (outreach) and Student Matinees (outreach and scheduling) for the fall 2026 season.

Specific Project 4: They will assist the Education Coordinator with conducting post-program assessments on the effectiveness of the 2026 Summer Youth Conservatory for its students.

Additional Duties
Additional duties and activities for Education Interns include participation in the Department's outreach efforts with community colleges, universities, and high schools, searching for new opportunities and partnerships within the community. They will assist in scheduling, coordinating instructors, support in database mining for outreach, and general administrative assistance to the Education Director.
Qualifications

Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills. Applicants must be committed, punctual, flexible, and reliable. They must know how to follow directions and be able to work well with others. Bilingualism (English/Spanish) is not required, but it is helpful.

The Latino Theater Company was founded in 1985 to establish a theater company dedicated to creating new stories and innovative methods of expression for American theater, and increasing artistic opportunities for underserved communities. As we continue to explore the U.S. Latine experience in bold and contemporary terms, we program our Fall and Spring Seasons with work that speaks to important issues and highlights new voices within the mosaic of Los Angeles’ diverse communities.
