Description

The Public Programs Intern will work on the planning and organization of LitLit (the Little Literary Fair), a 2-day free celebration of independent book publishers, book makers, and booksellers on the West Coast from September 14-15 in Culver City, as well as additional literary readings and journal launch parties. The intern will work closely with LARB staff to communicate with exhibitors, speakers, museums, and other partners to organize these events, as well as assist with publicity. This position will work approximately 20 hours a week from June through September. 

Qualifications

—Excellent reading, writing, and proofreading skills —Interest in literature and/or the arts —Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Wordpress, Mailchimp, Canva, and database maintenance a plus. —Experience working at public events or in a public-facing capacity, such as at a store or restaurant is an asset.

The Los Angeles Review of Books (LARB) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and disseminating rigorous, incisive, and engaging writing on every aspect of literature, culture, and the arts. A vibrant, multimedia platform, LARB exists to cover, represent, and shape today’s literary and artistic landscape in a manner that reflects Los Angeles's cultural style and embrace of diversity. LARB produces public events at venues around Los Angeles celebrating local writers and artists and independent publishing on the West Coast.
