Description

The Marketing Intern will play a key role in supporting the creation and development of Mission Opera’s brand-new stage production by leading a structured eight-week digital marketing campaign. Working directly with the artistic and administrative team, the intern will help shape the public story of this new work by creating engaging Instagram content that highlights the cast, behind-the-scenes development, rehearsal milestones, and the emergence of the show’s new performance space. Under staff supervision, the intern will produce weekly posts, short-form videos, and promotional materials that document the production’s progress from concept to performance launch. Responsibilities will include drafting copy, editing media, organizing visual assets, maintaining a consistent posting schedule, and preparing artist features that introduce audiences to the creative team. The intern will also assist with promoting open rehearsals and special production events, helping build awareness and community engagement around the development of this new show. To ensure a purposeful and achievable project scope, Mission Opera will provide a detailed eight-week schedule with clear milestones, deliverable deadlines, and opportunities for feedback. Through this hands-on role, the intern will gain practical experience in arts marketing, digital storytelling, and project planning while contributing directly to the launch of an entirely new stage production.

Additional Duties

In addition to their primary project duties, the interns will participate in a variety of day-to-day activities that support Mission Opera’s ongoing programming and general operations. Both interns will assist in preparing and disseminating announcements for the organization’s upcoming season, including gathering production details, drafting preliminary language for public communications, and helping organize materials for coordinated release across digital platforms. Interns will also support the development of advertising materials by assisting with the preparation of copy, gathering visual assets, organizing layout elements, and coordinating internal reviews. Under staff supervision, they will observe and participate in the process of transforming raw artistic information into accessible public-facing promotional content. As part of routine office operations, interns will help answer phone calls, provide basic information to patrons, and support customer service needs. They will receive training on ticketing procedures and assist with ticket sales, including documenting transactions, responding to inquiries, and directing patrons to appropriate resources when necessary. Additional administrative tasks may include organizing digital files, supporting rehearsal communication, assisting with mailing lists, and contributing to internal meeting preparation. These day-to-day responsibilities ensure that interns gain broad exposure to arts administration, customer relations, and public-facing communication within a professional performing arts environment.
