Background

Kid City is a youth leadership and development center that provides year-round programs in college access and success, career readiness, and music enrichment. Located in downtown Los Angeles, Kid City encourages students to explore their intellectual curiosity and discover their innate talents to become strong self and community advocates.  Its music program gives teens and young adults the opportunity to learn a Modern Band instrument (i.e. guitar, drum, keyboard, voice) - no audition or previous music experience necessary! Music is woven through all Kid City activities and brings together a supportive, intergenerational community through performances and community events.  Its annual community arts festival Splash of LA celebrates the end of the summer before students return to school. It is student-led and reaches 500+ community members through an afternoon of live performances, food, games and arts activities, and resources.
