Reporting to One Institute’s Director of Education Programs, the Education Intern will develop their skills in arts education, event planning, and content strategy by supporting the Youth Ambassadors for Queer History program, which convenes a cohort of high school student leaders from across Los Angeles County to participate in LGBTQ+ history workshops and develop creative archival research projects. The intern will also support the production of multimedia content on LGBTQ+ history, arts, and culture. The intern will leave the position with experience in planning and implementing arts education for youth and a robust portfolio of multimedia design and writing samples. Additionally, the intern will network with leading LGBTQ+ artists, educators, scholars, advocates, civil servants, and nonprofit programming partners in Los Angeles. This internship operates on a hybrid schedule (1-2 days in-office, including several Saturdays) for 15-20 hours per week from August 2026 to January 2027.
Candidates should demonstrate experience in one or more of the following areas: queer and trans history, arts, and culture; youth mentorship; K-12 education; archival research; and/or multimedia content production. Candidates must exemplify strong organizational skills and an ability to meet deadlines, effective written and interpersonal communication skills, and a willingness to take initiative on independent projects while collaborating well within a team. Preferred candidates will possess familiarity with software and creative tools such as Google Suite, Canva, and Airtable. A selected candidate will be required to undergo a LiveScan background check to work with youth and must be available to staff Saturday sessions of Youth Ambassadors for Queer History, every other week, September 2026 to January 2027.
