Description

This is an excellent opportunity for an intern to get hands-on experience in the production and administration of a touring theatre festival that has become a cherished annual event in Los Angeles. From working alongside production and artistic personnel, coordinating earned income strategies, ideating promotional engagement, interacting with a large audience and donors, and experiencing a diversity of tour locations throughout LA County, this internship offers behind-the-scenes access to producing theatre.  This position will work approximately 25-30 hours a week from June - early August and 15-20 hours a week from Mid August - November.

Qualifications

Meticulous attention to detail, great attitude, enthusiasm for the arts, strong organizational and administrative skills, good phone etiquette, computer savvy, ability to work in high-pressure, deadline-driven situations, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work evenings as well as days, ability to work in open-air environments, ability to lift 50 lbs, ability to follow-through, and a team player. The Intern will need to provide their own car for transportation to/from the office workspace in Redondo Beach and to/from the open-air performance tour venues (parks) that are throughout LA and Orange Counties.

Background

Shakespeare by the Sea (SBTS) is a non-profit theatrical organization that has been operating in the South Bay of LA County since 1998. Originally in San Pedro for 21 years, the organization relocated to Redondo Beach in 2024.  SBTS operates 2 programs: and Admission FREE touring Summer Shakespeare Festival and Little Fish Theatre - a professional AEA Membership Company Theatre that produces new, contemporary, and classic works in an intimate 65-seat venue in Redondo Beach.
