Description

The Marketing & Digital Content Intern will develop and execute social media campaigns promoting African Soul International's cultural programming and community center initiative.

Responsibilities include:

  • creating engaging video and photo content from live performances and rehearsals;
  • writing compelling social media posts highlighting cultural education impact stories;
  • researching trends in arts marketing and youth engagement strategies;
  • designing graphics and promotional materials using Canva and other tools;
  • managing content calendar and analyzing engagement metrics;
  • supporting email marketing campaigns to schools and corporate clients;
  • documenting program activities for grant reports and website updates.

The intern will gain professional skills in digital marketing, content creation, brand storytelling, and audience engagement—valuable in creative industries, communications, and entrepreneurship.

Additional Duties

Beyond primary projects, interns will participate in:

  • weekly team meetings learning nonprofit operations and strategic planning;
  • attending live West African drumming and dance performances, gaining cultural arts knowledge;
  • shadowing program delivery at schools or corporate events;
  • supporting administrative tasks like database management and file organization;
  • networking with guest speakers from LA's arts and nonprofit sectors;
  • participating in professional development workshops on resume writing, interviewing, and career pathways;
  • collaborating with our virtual assistant, marketing specialist, and graphic design team members, learning remote work best practices.
Qualifications

Interest in education, arts, marketing, or nonprofit work. Strong communication skills. Social media savvy preferred. Enthusiasm for cultural arts and youth empowerment. No prior experience required—just willingness to learn!

African Soul International is a 25-year cultural arts education leader serving 200+ LA schools annually. We empower youth through West African drumming, dance, and cultural programming, and recently received $1.2M to build a community center for at-risk youth.
