The McGroarty Arts Center seeks a dynamic Marketing & Communications Intern to play a pivotal role in amplifying our brand and engaging our community. This intern will be integral to developing and executing marketing campaigns that promote our 2026 programming, including a prestigious juried ceramic art show, concerts, workshops, and our annual fundraiser. The focus of this role is on strategic outreach, content creation, and audience development.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Content Creation & Digital Marketing: Craft compelling copy and visual content for social media channels, email newsletters, and the official website to build excitement for our programs and drive attendance;
- Audience Outreach & Engagement: Assist in managing our digital community by responding to comments, analyzing engagement data, and helping to grow our online following;
- Marketing & PR Support: Contribute to the implementation of our marketing plan by drafting press materials, assembling media lists, and assisting with the creation of promotional materials like flyers and digital ads;
- Brand Representation: Serve as a brand ambassador at events, capturing photo/video content for marketing use and ensuring a consistent brand experience for guests; and
- Collaborative Strategy: Attend and contribute to marketing meetings, helping to brainstorm campaign ideas, track project timelines, and analyze the performance of various marketing initiatives.
This hands-on position offers direct experience in the core elements of arts marketing and communications. The intern will develop a portfolio of real-world work, gaining proficiency in social media strategy, content creation, public relations, and brand management, all within the vibrant context of a community arts center.
Beyond their primary project, the intern will be fully integrated into the day-to-day operations of our multidisciplinaryarts center. This includes hands-on experience in student registration, drafting content for marketing campaigns across print and social media, and serving as a public-facing ambassador by giving tours and responding to inquiries. The interns will also have the opportunity to observe our diverse arts classes, such as ceramics and guitar, providing a practical understanding of our programming. These daily tasks are designed to build foundational nonprofit arts administration skills while simultaneously connecting the intern with the artists, instructors, and students who form our vibrant creative community. Intern must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in community arts programming and excel in both written and verbal communication. Essential to this role is the versatility to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Previous experience in social media, marketing, or event promotion is a plus, but we are eager to train a motivated individual.
