The Communications Intern(s) will work with our Chief Growth Officer and other communications staff to create and update our social media content and strategies. Our intern will be directly involved in creating new content for our social media pages (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn), setting up a content calendar, writing original copy for status updates and creating stories, building Get Lit’s photo library and designing other visuals, researching potential new network members, and collecting analytics. They will assist with the implementation of our annual summer fundraising campaign via social media, and will help our staff with live fundraising events that may occur during the summer.
Interns may also assist senior staff with general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, organization, and occasional errands. The Get Lit staff is a small, tightly knit team. The interns will be expected to pitch in on projects, regardless of size, should assistance be required.
Get Lit expects applicants to have basic computer skills, have experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, and be familiar with Macintosh operating systems. Candidates should have an interest in marketing, media, fundraising, and/or literary and performing arts. Other skills useful for these positions include: proofreading skills, event experience, and an ability to communicate with a wide range of people including teenagers, parents of students, professional staff members, and organization Board Members.
Get Lit – Words Ignite inspires literacy, wellness, creativity, and workforce development for young people through Spoken Word poetry and media.
