Description

The Programming/Events Intern will work directly with the Executive Director and our Events Planning Staff in executing programming and events which occur during the year, including weekends and evenings. The Intern will learn how to produce an event, from planning to setup to audience services to creating lobby environments to working with the tech staff for sound and lights needs, to conducting audience surveys and evaluations. In a nonprofit environment, all hands are involved in programming and the intern will work with each of our staff in different duties to help support, produce, and presents events. If the intern has skills in the area, we will have the intern work with us on social media strategy to not only promote and produce the event but to also conduct documentation. At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will have worked and helped in all aspects of producing an event and have a fundamental understanding on how it is done. Students will have developed organizational and communications skills, as well as learned how to discipline themselves to execute task work and planning. The primary or specific project of the intern will be to take the lead on a modest but manageable event, with seasoned support and professional staff backup, but to let them demonstrate they can do it and be successful at planning an event and presenting programming. It may be a performance, student recital, or an exhibition depending on the opportunity as it arises in the timeline.

Intern will report to their supervisor and maintain a work plan and schedule, and participate in staff meetings, meetings with instructors or guest artists, and any and all planning meetings pertaining to their area of work assignments.
