The School of Performing and Visual Arts Intern will assist staff with the SPVA Fall Session activities, including working with teaching artists and youth, clerical and registration duties, Plaza de la Raza’s Fall and Winter outreach and event support. The position will work approximately 20-30 hours a week from September 2026 through February 2027.
The ideal intern candidate will have an interest in arts and culture, particularly in arts education, and have a desire to work with youth, families and community. Intern candidate should demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively within a team while also being capable of performing tasks independently when necessary. Proficiency in Google Workspace and Canva is a plus, along with a solid understanding of database management. Ideal candidate would be fluent in both English and Spanish. Effective communication skills, both over the phone, in writing and in person would be an added advantage.
Plaza de la Raza is a community-based Latino cultural center for arts and education located in Lincoln Heights, East Los Angeles. Plaza hosts its School of Performing & Visual Arts (SPVA) for over 5,000 local students each year, and is also a presenter of live music, dance, theater, folk and traditional practices including a schedule of annual family festival events, such as Mexica New Year Celebration, Día del Niño Festival, Día de los Muertos and Community Holiday Celebration.
