The Project
This Creative Strategist residency will focus on developing creative ways to reach and connect with immigrant communities across Los Angeles County and raise awareness of immigrant rights and County services, while helping build trust between these communities and local government.

Julio Salgado is a queer artist with a degree in journalism who captures key moments of the immigrant rights movement in the United States through digital art and his blog, Illegals in Times of Crisis. His artistic practice is shaped by his lived experience as a formerly undocumented immigrant and took form during college through politically driven artwork. His professional experience includes serving as Senior Program Manager and Field Building Strategist at The Center for Cultural Power; co-creator of The Disruptors Fellowship, a Cultural Power program for emerging television writers; and illustrations and comic strip contributor for thee De Los section of The Los Angeles Times.
The mission of the Los Angeles County Office of Immigrant Affairs is to advance the well-being of all immigrants in the County of Los Angeles by providing and connecting with support services to help in all aspects of life, including:
