This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain real-world, hands-on experience in the administration of one of the largest playwrights’ festivals in the country. Interns will engage in all aspects of festival production, from reading and evaluating plays to assisting with play selection, and collaborating with festival producers and staff on casting, scheduling, marketing, and logistics to interacting directly with playwrights, actors, directors, and audiences. This comprehensive experience provides an in-depth understanding of what it takes to create, manage, and run a successful arts festival. For anyone interested in theater production, this internship offers professional-level, practical experience. The position requires 30–40 hours per week from June through September.
Meticulous attention to detail, great positive attitude, strong organizational and administrative skills (or interest), great phone and email etiquette, ability to work under a deadline with grace and skill, strong written and verbal communication, ability to work evenings as well as days, ability to follow-through and be a team player. Some graphics and editing skills a plus. Intern will need to provide their own car for transportation to and from the workspace and performance venue.
