Description

Graphic Design intern wanted for the Ruskin Art Club, Los Angeles' oldest cultural association. This is an opportunity to design and prepare the association's signature fine press booklets of lectures from eminent experts in the fields of art history, economics, social reform, and ecology. The job will also include orientation in the work of the Victorian polymath John Ruskin and Ruskinian thinkers today along with hands-on experience with the work of nonprofit arts associations and collaborating institutions. This position will involve approximately 15-20 hours a week from June through September and include both on-site and remote work.

Qualifications

Have proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) to execute high-quality designs and layouts. Demonstrate attention to detail, time management, and effective communication throughout the production process. Exemplify fluency of English grammar and composition when assisting in the review of literary texts. 

Background

The Ruskin Art Club, founded in 1888, is the oldest cultural association in Los Angeles. Originally a women's art study club, it has undergone many reinventions over the years and is today a public arts corporation dedicated to studying and applying the insights of Victorian polymath John Ruskin to the cultural, artistic, and environmental challenges we face in the 21st century. The Ruskin Art Club pursues this aim through lectures, study groups, exhibitions, web archive and its signature podcast, "Ruskin Today."
