"The position will provide hands-on experience in producing a touring theatre festival of two professional productions in Shakespeare by the Sea’s 2025 Admission Free Summer Shakespeare season

The opportunity allows for exposure to theatre productions that tour to multiple open-air public venues in 15+ cities reaching over 13,000 people. The Summer Shakespeare Intern’s day to day schedule will vary based upon production needs but will include mostly evening and weekend hours at the performances. The intern will have the opportunity to participate in pre-production activities, production preparation, tour operations (technical and managerial), social media promotion, merchandise sales, and general production facilitation. The intern will work alongside Co-Artistic Directors Stephanie Coltrin & Suzanne Dean and Tour Manager Alexa Woolf. Stephanie Coltrin will operate as the primary Mentor for the program and Alexa Woolf as the secondary. This position will work approximately 20-25 hours a week from June - early August and 15-20 hours a week from September - November."
 

Qualifications

Meticulous attention to detail, great attitude, enthusiasm for the arts, strong organizational and administrative skills, great phone etiquette, computer savvy, ability to work in high-pressure, deadline-driven situations, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work evenings as well as days, ability to lift 50 lbs, ability to follow-through, and a team player. The Intern will need to provide their own car for transportation to/from the office workspace in Redondo Beach and to/from the performance tour venues that are throughout LA and Orange Counties.
 

Background

Shakespeare by the Sea (SBTS) is a non-profit theatrical organization that has been operating in the South Bay of LA County since 1998. Originally in San Pedro for 21 years, the organization has relocated to Redondo Beach.   SBTS operates 2 programs: and Admission FREE touring Summer Shakespeare Festival and Little Fish Theatre - a professional AEA Membership Company Theatre that produces new, contemporary, and classic works in an intimate 65-seat venue in Redondo Beach.
