Los Angeles, CA 90007
As the Girls' Voices Now Content Creator Intern, you will be the visual storyteller of the GVN experience, capturing the energy of the program through a Gen-Z lens. This role is perfect for a high schooler with a "good eye" for aesthetics who loves documenting moments through photography and short-form video (Reels/TikToks) to show the world what GVN actually feels like.
From June 15 to August 7, 2026, you will be our lead "vibe-checker" and documentarian: starting with Pre-Production (June 15 – July 5, 2026), where you’ll collaborate with the marketing team to build shot lists, organize media folders, and plan visual themes; moving into the Summer Intensive (July 6 – 31), where you’ll be on-site to capture high-quality photos and raw behind-the-scenes footage, identify "vibe check" moments for trendy Reels, and draft visual-first content; and concluding with a Post-Program (August 1 – 7) wrap-up to curate the best assets into an organized library for staff use and future archives.
The intern will also:
- Collaborate: Participate in team brainstorms and stay in the loop with staff via Slack or email.
- Grow: Attend weekly check-ins with your supervisor, plus a mid-point and final review to celebrate your wins and talk about your professional goals.
- Learn: You may participate in Trauma-Informed Care Training, gaining valuable skills in emotional intelligence and empathy; tools that are essential for managing online communities with care.
This internship requires no prior work experience, but we’d love to see applications from students who possess curiosity about how film and storytelling can create a better world for women and girls. We are looking for students who are excited to learn about the arts and social change for the first time.
What we are looking for:
- A Shared Vision: You care about the rights of girls and women and are curious about how movies can make a difference.
- A Helpful Teammate: You enjoy working with others, are ready to help out where needed, and aren't afraid to ask questions when you’re unsure of what to do next.
- Basic Digital Skills: You are comfortable with everyday computer tasks like typing and sending emails.
- Reliability: You can follow directions, keep track of your tasks, and show up ready to learn during your 15 hours per week.
- Communication: You are willing to practice speaking and writing clearly as you represent our team.
Bonus Skills (Not Required):
- If you enjoy taking photos or making videos for fun, tell us about it!
- If you can speak, write, or translate in Spanish, that is a wonderful plus but not a requirement.
Women’s Voices Now (WVN) uses film to drive social change that advances girls’ and women’s rights globally. We promote, produce, and share social-change films focusing on women’s and girls’ rights issues, providing active support to filmmakers who give voice to unheard women and girls, and activating civil society by moving audiences from empathy to action. We envision a global culture shift, powered by impact film, in which communities and institutions believe in the value of gender equality, and adapt their behaviors and actions to support systematic advancement of girls’ and women’s rights. We amplify underrepresented voices and reshape dominant narratives to foster inclusivity in front of the camera as well as behind it.
To apply for this internship, please submit your cover letter and resume to Bonnie Ayala, Girls’ Voices Now Program Manager, at bonnie@womensvoicesnow.org, with the subject line “GVN Content Creator Intern.” Since no previous job experience is needed, feel free to share how your school clubs, volunteer projects, or personal interests show your passion for helping your community.
