Women’s Voices Now is looking for a Programs Intern. Under the supervision of the Director of Programs & Partnerships, the intern’s primary project will be to help in preparing for and supporting the execution of the Girls’ Voices Now Youth Program. Girls’ Voices Now is a youth development program advancing gender and racial equity through filmmaking. It empowers girls and femme-identifying youth (14-18) of underserved communities of Los Angeles to find, develop and use their voice to create the social change they wish to see in their lives, communities and beyond.  The intern's schedule will vary slightly, with more hours and in-person presence between mid-June and late July/early August (about 25-30 hours per week), then the intern's weekly hours will decrease to about 10-15 hours a week between mid-August until early November. The internship will conclude shortly after the premiere screening event taking place in early November.
 

Qualifications

- First and foremost, the intern should be passionate about women’s and girls’ rights, and believe in the power of film to effect social change. - Ability to proficiently and fluently navigate basic computer tasks is required (emailing, typing, etc.) - Ability to professionally communicate and represent Women’s Voices Now to external audiences is a required. - Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and ask questions when unsure is a must. - Ability to be flexible, adapt, and “roll with the punches” with a positive attitude is a must. - Desire to be a part of a small, close-knit, and passionate team, working collaboratively at all times, is a must. - Prior experience in social services, working with youth, event planning, and/or project management is a plus. - A background or passion for filmmaking is a plus. - Ability to write, speak, and translate to/from Spanish is a plus.
 

Background

Women’s Voices Now is a 501(c)(3) organization (WVN) using film to drive positive social change that advances women’s and girls’ rights globally.  We promote, produce, and share social-change films focusing on women’s and girls’ rights issues, providing active support to filmmakers who give voice to unheard women and girls, and activating civil society by moving audiences from empathy to action.  We carry out our mission with our film festival, a free film collection, a youth media training program (Girls' Voices Now), educational community screenings, multimedia workshops, and an online publication (The WVoice).
