Description

The McGroarty Arts Center seeks a dynamic Marketing & Communications Intern to play a role in promoting our classes and events to our community. This intern will help with answering phone calls, distributing our class schedules and flyers, listing classes and events on our website and registering individuals for classes. They will also help with organizing art supplies for our classes and in some cases, assist the class instructor with tasks for class preparation. They will attend marketing meetings, helping to brainstorm new ideas, schedule classes, and plan marketing. This hands-on position offers experience in arts marketing and communications. The intern will learn elements of advertising planning, social media strategy, ad creation, and community relations for a community arts center. 

Additional Duties

The intern will be fully integrated into the day-to-day operations of our multidisciplinary arts center. This includes assisting center staff with student registration and occasional tours of our historical building. The interns will also have the opportunity to observe our diverse arts classes, gaining a practical understanding of our program development. These daily tasks are designed to build foundational nonprofit arts administration skills while simultaneously connecting the intern with artists, instructors, and students who form our vibrant creative community. They will also have to be part of the team helping to present our summer ceramic art show.

Intern may be requested to one one to two evenings and/or Saturdays if their transportation options permit and parental approval is given.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in community arts programming. essential to this role is the versatility to work effectively as part of a team. Previous experience not required. We are eager to train a motivated individual.
