In the Distance, 2022, Mixed media

This image was shot at the Home of Peace Memorial Park and Mortuary which is the successor to the first Jewish cemetery in Los Angeles: the Hebrew Benevolent Society. Established in 1855, near the site of the future Dodger Stadium, it was moved to its current location in 1902 in East LA in 1902. I have layered images from the cemetery with suggestions of urban Downtown LA and the site of Dodgers Stadium, combining paintings of mark-making and digital media to generate a poetic language where systems are linked to form a new syntax, connecting the ancient and the new.
