Elysian Park At Dusk, 2009, Copper leaf, lacquer and copic markers on panel

Elysian Park is quiet at dusk. A solid chain of cars goes by, like a counterpoint to the serenity that the park holds over me. Diffused light and distorted colors mark the last sun of the day. My dog, Irma, glances up for a moment—a coyote is off in the distance, busy scrounging in the brush, such an eerie, red, magical sight. Irma stares at the apparition for a moment, then calmly returns to her sniffing and rooting as so many dogs have done at the park forever.
