MashUp Contemporary Dance Company is seeking a proactive Production Intern who aligns with the company’s mission to uplift feminist ideologies and build community through dance. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong communication skills and a sharp focus on specifics. The Production Intern will work part-time on a hybrid schedule of about 15-20 hours per week from August 2025 to March 2026. Their primary responsibility will be to assist in the development and execution of MashUp’s largest annual event, the 2025 International Women’s Day Dance Festival (IWDDF). They will help plan the festival from the beginning, attending meetings and coordinating mentors, vendors, and artists. Key tasks include event supply management, managing and scheduling artists and volunteers, front and back of house tasks, and other production needs. The intern will attend all MashUp events, interacting directly with artists and attendees to gain valuable firsthand experience in the operations and impact of arts programming.
Focus, attention to detail, and adaptability are key qualities for the intern. Strong office administration and computer skills are required, including familiarity with or a willingness to learn Google for Business (Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc) social media platforms, and Canva. Candidates with experience or coursework in arts production, event planning, community building, handling sponsorships, coordinating partners, and/or volunteer or program management are strongly encouraged to apply. Research experience and an interest in the Los Angeles arts and cultural sector are preferred. The intern should demonstrate cultural sensitivity, and familiarity with performing arts production practices is a plus. Undergraduates majoring in arts management, dance, or related fields are urged to submit your applications, as the company aims to help these students expand their skills and develop into future leaders in the arts and culture sector.
