How Lonely Sits the City is a collection of dance films and photographs set in and around Los Angeles. The films and photographs utilize movement as a physical language to share the inner landscapes of black-identifying dancers who take on angelic-like characters. The work is filmed and formed in historically Black neighborhoods, interweaving personal and historical histories. The films range from 15-20 minutes in length and are edited sparsely as long takes. Nadia is set in Oakwood. Tae is set in Leimert Park. Maya takes place at the Los Angeles River.
